AYR Rugby Club could clinch their first Scottish title on Saturday – without kicking a ball.
The Millbrae men need just four points to win the Premier 1 crown.
And if their game at Currie doesn’t survive the cold snap, rivals Selkirk will have to beat Boroughmuir to keep the flag race alive.
But coach Kenny Murray wants his side to complete the job.
Last Saturday’s draw at Boroughmuir means Ayr have had to wait another seven days to get a crack at glory.
And full strength Ayr will take a big travelling support to Edinburgh, hoping to witness history.
Murray insisted: “Now we know exactly what we have to do at Currie on Saturday and with Damien Kelly back I am certain that the side will thrive on the fact that their destiny is in their own hands.
“They know that no matter what happens elsewhere, a win will take the title.
“It is simple – we have to win.”
