Ayrshire rugby referee goes full time

AN Ayrshire rugby referee is about to turn full-time.

Andrew Macpherson will become Scotland’s only man in the middle to be a professional.

The 26-year-old, who refereed his first match at Millbrae when just 18, has officiated in the European Challenge Cup and under 19 World Cup final.

Andrew said: “It’s a really exciting opportunity to progress and develop as a referee; it’ll allow me to be the best referee I can possibly be and will give me the opportunity to gain the impetus to experience rugby at an international level — if I prove myself.”
