Belmont and Marr bank school rugby titles

ALMOST 800 spectators saw Belmont Academy and Marr College win two Royal Bank of Scotland Ayrshire development schools League Cup finals at Millbrae.

Belmont took the under 15 cup with a 19-5 win over Loudoun Academy.

Scott Hogg ran in the opening try and Cammy Murrie added two which he converted himself. Alex Harley replied for Loudoun.

The senior final was won by Marr College development XV who beat Carrick Academy 10-3.

Carrick opened with a Colin Sturgeon penalty but Marr led at the break through a Jamie Watson try. Scrum-half Alistair Wright ran in another to stretch the lead.

Carrick’s Fraser Thomson was denied a try right at the death as he looked the winner in a hack and chase but the score was denied.
