AYR men’s third XI clinched the Division Three title with a 5-0 win over an experienced Kelburne Fifths at Cambusdoon.
Craig Milby ran on to a super Johnny Sutcliffe pass to fire Ayr ahead.
Great defending from Brian Sutherland and Neil Riddle kept the visitors out before Milby added his second while Paul Steel dribbled past three players to score a cracker before half-time.
Steel scored his second from a penalty flick and Simon Downie ran almost the length of the pitch for the fifth.
The thirds thank all the members who gave them assistance through the season, especially injured vice-captain Tom Livingstone who they wish a speedy recovery.
Ayr second XI narrowly missed out securing a draw with league leaders Kelburne 3 at Bellahouston.
Ayr competed well with a solid defence and good performance by Simon French in goal and George McCurdy at centre back.
Ruaridh McCurdy, James Smith and Cameron Woods harried the Kelburne defence forcing them to defend deep in their own half.
In the second half, Kelburne pushed forward but Ayr defended well, including anoutstanding save from Simon French. However, in the dying minutes, Kelburne struck a well taken winner.
This week, Ayr host Western 4. Their last game is at home to Kelburn 4 on April 19.
Ayr’s quarter final in the plate against Inverurie on Sunday was postponed due to snow.
