AYR ladies 1st X1 shared eight goals with with Stirling Wanderers on Saturday.
Stirling took an early lead when they got behind the Ayr defence and beat the goalie who had come out to narrow the angle. Ayr quickly replied through Megan Clark.
Stirling went back in front from a penalty corner but Ayr levelled before half time. Ayr piled on the pressure and quickly went 4-2 up with goals from Michelle Kennedy and on-form Megan-Clark but Stirling equalised right on the final whistle.
Ayr ladies 2nd X1, sponsored by Lawrence McPherson Associates, drew 0–0 with Cumbernauld.
Captain Lucy Crone, was delighted with the team’s performance, particularly in the second half when Ayr upped their game and created a number of chances.
Two new youngsters, Fiona Preston and Shona Howie did well as did Cat McGregor, who made her mark on the left of midfield.
The seconds host Glasgow Western 4s in the first round of the Cup on Saturday.
Ayr men’s 2nd X1 drew 2-2 with Hillhead Hornets in Glasgow.
Ayr had good pressure in the first half with solid defence from Duncan Rout, Aswin Nair, Willie Forbes and Brian Sutherland. Attacks down the right midfield through Mungo Hay allowed forwards Ian McCreath and James Smith to create problems for the Hillhead defence and led to the opening goal through Cammy Cunningham.
In the second half, Hillhead hit back strongly and scored twice. An excellent save from Stuart Cuthbert in goal in a one on one break by Hillhead allowed Ayr to settle and Ali Shankland equalisedin another piece of deft stick work. Ayr now host Motherwell.
Ayr men’s 3rd X1 were 4-1 winners away to a strong Clydesdale 4th side.
Ayr struck first when Simon Downes sent a super pass to Johnny Sutcliffe who hammered the ball home but it took some outstanding saves from Chris Taylor to keep them in front.
Ayr grabbed their second from a short corner with Murray McBride hitting a great shot past the Clydesdale goalie.
After the break, Craig Milby robbed the ball off a defender and rounded the keeper to score a great goal.
The home side pulled one back but Ayr had the last word with Scott Cameron scoring his first senior goal and capping a great performance by the whole team.
Special mention goes to Tom Livingstone who travelled back from Norway to play.
Ayr men IVs were delighted to draw 1-1 against Monklands at Cambusdoon.
The Ayr youngsters competed well against a team who played in the division above last year. In the first half, the Ayr defence stood firm against some bright attacking play with Ralph Riddiough and Alistair Laing outstanding.
After the break, Ayr began to dictate with man of the match, Steven Agnew and youngster, Tom Sparks dominant.
Ayr were rewarded midway through the second half when, after some neat linking play between Fraser and Ruairidh McCurdy, a through ball found William Boyle free in the circle who finished well at the near post.
Monklands hit straight back and equalised within five minutes from a well taken short corner.
