AYR Seaforth under 13 boys were double winners when the curtain came down at the Kelvin Sports Hall, Glasgow as a venue for indoor athletics.
Starting in October, indoor athletics competitions will move to a newly built facility in the east end of Glasgow purpose built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The under 13 boys not only won the Scottish League final but also were impressive winners of the 4 x 200 metres relay final. Only Scottish Athletics can explain why two different age groups are in operation because nobody else can.
On Sunday, two separate major athletic events were held involving Seaforth athletes: (a) the finals of the Scottish Indoor League for age group teams which qualified through three league competitions since November. (b) a 4x200 metres relay for all clubs in Scotland for all age groups.
On Sunday, the age groups reverted back to league age groups U11, U13, :U15, U17 and U20 instead of the new championship age groups introduced in 2011: U14, U16, U18 and seniors.
The significance of the league age groups on Sunday meant that Seaforth under 13 boys competed on a level playing field this time compared to the national relay championships where, as a very young team, they just missed out in the national 4x200m relay final.
