Poor support for Ayr Seaforth’s five mile river race

MORE support will be needed for the Ayr Seaforth five mile river race and 3k family run to continue.

That’s the warning after a poor turnout for the races which started at Dam Park and headed along the River Ayr walk, through Craigie Park before finishing back at the stadium.

Despite perfect weather conditions, only 31 competitors took part in the five mile race and just 21 competitors in the 3k family run.

Seaforth secretary Glen Harrower said: “These races have been held for three years with the support of South Ayrshire Council but if they are to continue next year, there must be more support from local runners in particular.”
