Also, on Sunday at Wishaw, a team of six boys and six girls from Ayrshire competed in an Interfacility (Stadium) Challenge from stadiums all over Scotland.
Seaforth were represented by three boys: Andrew Peck (shot putt: 7m50), Jonathan Hendry (100m) and Fraser Paterson (100m).
Girls competing were Rebecca Spence (100m) and Emily McAlpine (hgh jump). This was an under 14 team and all team members ran in a mixed /medley relay: 2x100m, 2x600m, 2x200m and 2x600m. The team finished fifth from seven teams.
No results were announced during the competition or posted up at the stadium but the Seaforth young athletes performed with great credit.
lRachel Hunter retained her title at the Cowal Games last weekend. She won the putting of the Cowal stone, shot putt, weight for distance, Scots hammer and weight over the bar (narrowly missing out on a new games record of 12ft 6).
Rachel, 18, came second in tossing the caber and was narrowly beaten by the last throw of the competition although she had been leading up until then.
This confirmed her as overall winner, beating both Scottish and international athletes. One female competitor came from Iceland.
lFixtures: on Wednesday, August 31, the final open athletic competition of the season takes place at Dam Park for all age groups from 7pm.
There are track and field events with medals for all top three placed athletes up to under 17 in all events.
The Seaforth club track and field championships will be held at Dam Park on Tuesday, September 6 and Thursday, September 8.
