Ayrshire finish third in second match of the Scottish Young Athletes League

AYRSHIRE youngsters finished a creditable third in the second match of the Scottish Young Athletes League at Scotstoun.

The team, comprising athletes from Ayr Seaforth, Kilmarnock Harriers and North Ayrshire AC, was weaker than the team which finished second in the opening match.

On Sunday, Ayrshire finished behind winners Edinburgh AC and runners-up Giffnock North. The under 17 men’s team, in particular, suffered from absences due to injuries and higher exam studies.

Seaforth athletes face a busy Sunday with the senior and junior men competing in the Scottish League at Grangemouth.

The females compete for Team West in the Scottish Women’s League at Meadowbank.

The Land O`Burns 10k road race, organised by Seaforth and supported by South Ayrshire Council, takes place on Wednesday, May 25 from Seafield pavilion at the Old Racecourse.
