Graham Leitch wins the Ayr duathlon

SUNNY weather gave perfect racing conditions for 88 competitors in Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club’s annual duathlon at Auchincruive on Sunday.

Fusion Triathlon Club's Graham Leitch, a recent age group world champion, led the men's race from the start to finish almost two minutes clear of club mate Gordon Durnum.

Likewise in the ladies race, Fusion’s Kelly Van Der Toorn led from the start to finish more than five minutes clear of club mate Emma Lamont.

Ayrodynamic's only competitor Grant Leitch finished the 5k run, 20k cycle and 5k run in 1.30.50.

Female senior: 1. Kelly Van Der Toorn (Fusion Tri) 1.21.10; 2. Emma Lamont (Fusion Tri) 1.26.58; 3. Genevieve Freeman (AthElite) 1.27.54; Vet: Val Martin (Dales RT) 1.27.23.

Ayrodynamic's athletes are midway through the club's spring time trials. The 10 mile time trial is held over the hilly Moscow circuit.

The time trials are essential preparation for the coming race season and allow athletes to gauge their level of fitness.
