Ayr Seaforth men struggle in opening meeting of Scottish League Division Two at Grangemouth

WITH only nine athletes and several events not covered, it was no surprise that Ayr Seaforth men’s team could finish only sixth from 10 clubs at the first match of the Scottish League Division Two.

The main problems were due to injuries to key team members and non-availability of other key players at Grangemouth.

lSeaforth athletes helped Team West finish second with 400 points in the first match of the Scottish Women’s League at Meadowbank.

lTwelve-year-old Ailie Shanks had two personal bests at the Nithsdale AC open graded meeting on Sunday.

She won the under 15 girls 200m in 27.8 secs and was third in the 100m with 13.7 secs.

lFixtures: the Ayrshire Harriers young athletes team, comprising members from Ayr Seaforth, Kilmarnock Harriers and North Ayrshire AC, travel to Grangemouth on Sunday for the first match in Scottish Young Athletes League Division One.

The team bus leaves Ayr rail station car park at 9am prompt.

Seaforth athletes resume their normal training schedules at Dam Park on Tuesday and Thursday nights this week. Relining work at the track is now complete.
