ANNBANK FISHERY: the pace of activity has really picked up with warmer weather making the fishing a more pleasant experience.
Fish are now feeding closer to the surface and are being caught on black nymphs and buzzers. Plenty of fish being caught by all who attended, once the correct feeding depth had been found.

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fly pond fished harder due to the water being coloured after rain.
Winner of Hunterston Angling Club’s outing was R. Greer with four fish for 9lb 10oz. Heaviest fish went to J. Archibald with one weighing 3lb 5oz. Before the rain, the best catch was John Summers of Coatbridge who released 14 fish including a fine brown trout estimated at 4-5lbs. Best flies were black buzzers and daiwl bachs.
Bait pond’s best catch came from Rab Knox of Dalmellington with six fish for 14lb 9oz. Best bait was worm.
Coarse pond fishing well, still catching plenty of silver fish, a few better carp starting to show now, along with some nice tench. Best bait was pellet and maggot.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the senior baton team from the Elite Dance School held a sponsored fishing competition to raise funds for them to represent Scotland later in the year in Jacksonville, Florida.
They raised £865 in total,special prizes went to D Gallagher and D Watson for raising the most sponsorship.
Results: adult fly: 1. J Brown, four for 8lb 14oz; 2. D McKie, four for 8lb 12oz; 3. J Anderson, four for 8lb 11oz. Heaviest fish went to D McKie with 2lb 9oz. Junior fly: 1. Euan Crawford, four for 8lb 9oz.
Adult bait: 1. K Fajan, two for 3lb 9oz; 2. M Gallagher, one for 1lb 12oz; 3. J Findlay, one for 1lb 10oz.
Junior bait: 1. D Thayne, four for 7lb 2oz; 2. L Gallagher, one for 2lb. Heaviest fish went to D Thayne with 2lb 4oz.
The fishery was also visited by Kilwinning and Eglinton AC who caught 29 fish between them.
Fly pond: Ian Skilling, three for 6lb 6oz, Titch, four for 8lb, D Downie, two for 3lb 6oz, S Brennan, two for 4lb, The Rev from Irvine, three for 6lb 4oz, K Pham, two for 4lb 6oz.
Bait pond: G McGarry, four for 7lb 12oz, G McClure, four for 7lb 10oz, M McClure, four for 7lb 3oz, D McLelland, four for 7lb 14oz, S Robertson, four for 7lb, C McDonald, four for 7lb 6oz, J Jermond, four for 6lb 14oz, four for 7lb 10oz; A Cooper, three for 6lb; Mr McMillan, three for 6lb 5oz; S Laird, three for 5lb 2oz; L Pender, four for 7lb; L Miller, four for 8lb; R Purdie, four for 6lb 8oz, three for 6lb 2oz.
RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): the change in weather not only brought out the anglers but the fish as well.
Top man for the week was Jock Patterson with 11 on the running worm, pal Andy Faichney six on the same tactics, G. Lewis from Pollokshaws, five fish on power bait, M. Spence from Onthank five on power bait, Willie McIntosh from Auchinleck four on power bait, Robert Scott four on power bait, T. Collins two on a green and black fritz combo and one on power bait, ‘J’ three, Alex McNeil one for 3½lbs and one for 2lbs on power bait, Tam Patterson two on power bait but forgot the weight, Liam Ross, age 11, brother Dylan, age 10, and dad Stevie one each on power bait, husband and wife team Davie and Linda Cronie from Dreghorn three on the floating worm, K. Hiddleston and J. Lothian two a piece on power bait, W. Ure two for 3¼lbs on the floating worm.
Among others just happy with the one were Davie Miller, G. Derby, Davie Boyd, J, Alexander and 85-year-old Joe Smalcic.
The club’s annual open day is on Sunday, April 24 from 9am to 4pm with big prize money, tagged fish, raffle, free barbeque, coffee and tea etc. All welcome while help or a donation towards the raffle would be appreciated.

COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): fly pond: what a success the weed cutting boat was last week. Thanks to Ryder Services from Moffat Fishery for an amazing piece of kit.
T. Jarvie released five, C. McCord released three, R. McIlwraith released seven, A. Ireland and R. Steel released five and seven, Mr Samson, Mr Boyle and Mr Clarkson released two, four and four on buzzers and dries. B. Boyle and J. Samson from Muirkirk released three and four again on buzzers and dries, T. .Jarvie and C. Wilson, on a night visit, released five and two, G. Kimmett from Monkton chapped three and released seven, K. Smith and L. O’Hara chapped one and released seven, one of which was a lovely brownie at 3.4lb. Well done to Lynsey O’Hara for catching her first fish.
Bait pond: Quinn brothers from Motherwell got their two fish each weighing 9.6 lb and C. Hood from Ayr got his two fish for 4.3 lb, Mr McCreath and son got their five fish for 9.9lb, Mr McAughtrie from Stewarton had two fish for 4.5lb, P. McNulty and J. Crawford from Dundonald and Stewarton, on a three fish ticket, each got their fish. Both bags weighed exactly the same at 7.6 lbs.
BROOMHILL FISHERY (Patna/Rankinston B730): weather still cold, but improving.

Bait pond starting to get quite busy. Chris Gilbert two kept 3lb 4oz, R. Simpson two kept 2lb 10oz, D. Tillis two kept 2lb 5oz, Robert Bailley one kept 1lb 10oz, David Smith one kept 1lb 6oz. Evening sessions have now started.
DALVENNAN FISHERY: the two hour c/r session is doing well in the evenings.
