Ayrshire duathlete heads south

AYRODYNAMIC’S Finlay Rae will be heading to Loughborough this weekend to race in the British National Elite Youth Duathlon Championships.

Finlay, who is one of the many promising Ayrodynamic juniors, will race over a 2.5km run, 10km bike (draft legal), 1.25km run.

The races will be held on a completely contained airfield just north of Loughborough.

The run stages will be held on disused runways which will make for a very fast course, the bike stage will be held on a 2.5km racing circuit on a perfect tarmac surface, this will mean lots of laps but excellent conditions for racing.

Troon Triathlete Steve White braved the snowy weather last weekend to compete in the Inverness Half Marathon.

The wet conditions and lumpy course ensured a challenging day out. Steve managed an impressive 1.46.26 finishing two minutes behind wife Alison.

Last weekend saw the Martin McMillan memorial Duathlon take place in Doonfoot.

The timing of the race was perfect with fabulous weather conditions during the race.

The event is done in pairs with each couple running a 2.2 mile leg in turn followed by a 4.4 mile cycle.

The winning pair was Wilson McTaggart and Charlie Smith whose combined time was 58.24, just over a minute ahead of second placed John Strawhorn and Gregor Grant.

Fastest run on the day was Wilson McTaggart and fastest cycle Mark McNulty.

All entry fees from the event have been donated to the British Heart Foundation.
