Bumper fields for Ayrodynamic club’s Turkey Trots

ALMOST 250 were quick off their mark for the Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club’s annual Turkey Trot 5k and 10k races.

Despite concerns about the weather, there was a great turnout in both events.

A surprise thaw, a day earlier than forecast, meant that the shorefront/Seafield traditional route could be used instead of the back-up beach route.

Conditions were still very cold which meant that all the competitors and families particularly enjoyed Ayrodynamic'slegendary post race spread.

The 5k race was won by Nick Kling (Teddy Mcfinisher) in a time of 16.30. The female winner was Sarah Munn (Glasgow Uni) in 20.52. First junior finishers were local athletes Micheal Craig (20.24) and Kirsteen Oakley (Ayr Seaforth) (22.45).

In the 10k race, international triathlete David McNamee (Central AC) won in an excellent 31.58 while Sarah Hood (Edinburgh AC) took the honours in the ladies race in 36.09.

Category results: senior men: 1 David McNamee (Central AC) 31.58; 2 Kerry Liam Wilson (Ron Hill Cambuslang) - 3.39 (also 1st vet); 3 Colin McGill (Edinburgh AC) 33.34.
