THE latest exciting addition to Ayr Seaforth`s female road runners, Laura Wallace, was first Ayrshire female from 161 finishers in the annual Around Cumbrae 10 mile road race.
This race also incorporates the Ayrshire 10 mile Road Race Championships. With the road race season continuing and the cross-country season starting in October, Laura will be a valuable member of the Seaforth senior and junior (under 20) team.
The team could be even stronger if any interested female runners in the area would like to join Toni McIntosh, last year’s top ranked road runner in Scotland and top under 20 road runner Louise Hill-Stirling.
Any female runners interested can contact secretary Glen Harrower on 01292 261956.
Results: winner: David Simpson (Corstorphine AC) 51 mins 37 secs; 6th and first Ayrshire athlete Alec Allerdyce (Irvine AC) 58.12; 1st female and 25th: Ellie Homewood (Westerlands Club) 66.37; 32nd and first Ayrshire female: Laura Wallace (Ayr Seaforth) 68.28.
The other Seaforth athlete was David White who was 88th in 78.37.
