Ayr Seaforth’s five mile race is a winner

GLORIOUS sunshine greeted 53 runners in the second Ayr Seaforth five mile trail.

The scenic course followed the River Ayr walk through the old Craigie pitch and putt course, continuing alongside the River Ayr and finishing with a lap of Dam Park stadium.

Earlier in the evening, there was a 3k family fun run which involved 22 youngsters and parents.

Prizewinners: men’s race: 1. Stephen Wylie (senior man, Cambuslang) 26.38; 2. Brian McEwan (vet man 40), Kilmarnock Harriers) 27.21; 3. Jeff Farquhar (vet man 50, Pitreavie) 27.25.

Female race: 1. Joasia Zakrzewski (senior woman, Dumfries) 31.13; 2. Louise-Hill Stirling (U20 woman, Ayr Seaforth) 33.08; 3. Laura Wallace (senior woman, Ayr Seaforth) 33.21.
