Ayr Seaforth’s Finlay Rae stars for Scottish schools

BELMONT Academy pupil and Ayr Seaforth athlete Finlay Rae completed an excellent cross country season with a call-up to the Scottish Schools team for the Aviva SIAB Schools International races in Truro in Cornwall.

Competing as one of the youngest athletes in the intermediate boys (under 17) race, Finlay ran a superb race to take 15th place over an extremely tough 5.8k course.

He was third Scot home against the finest athletes in the UK and helped the Scottish team to take third place behind England and Ireland.

He now looks forward to a short break before travelling to Mallorca for warm weather training with the Scottish triathlon squad.

On Saturday, Seaforth will be action in the six mile four stage senior road relay championships at Livingston.

On Sunday, the first outdoor action of the season takes place at Dumfries with an open meeting.
