Ayr's record breaker Toni lands a triple

SUPER runner Toni McIntosh has made history by winning the triple crown of Scottish national championships.

And on Sunday, she won the East Kilbride half marathon by two minutes, despite having to take two emergency toilet stops en route.

Toni, 29, quipped: “If it was good enough for Paula Radcliffe, it was good enough for me. I had a dodgy tummy and had to twice leave the course but still got home first.”

World marathon record holder Radcliffe famously took a comfort break at the side of the course during her London Marathon win of 2005.

On fire Toni wrapped up the Scottish national 10k road running championship at Vale of Leven when she was first Scot home in 35 mins 51 secs to finish second behind a Canadian girl. That followed her title wins in the marathon at Edinburgh and half marathon in Dunfermline.

The Ayr Seaforth flier has also clinched the Polaroid series and Grand Prix. On Friday, she plans a back to back double when she returns to East Kilbride for 5k and 10k races.
