Ayrshire hopefuls aim for Scottish Boys’ Championship title at Dunbar

AYRSHIRE has 14 representatives in the field of 256 who will bid for the Scottish Boys' Championship at Dunbar from April 11 to 16.

Kilmarnock (Barassie) will provide seven of the challengers with three from Troon Welbeck while Annanhill, Ardeer, Ayr Belleisle and Prestwick St Cuthbert are also represented.

First round match details involving Ayrshire players are:

lAYRSHIRE girls lost 4½-1½ to South of Scotland girls in their first match of the season at Portpatrick Dunskey.

In the top match, Connie Jaffrey narrowly lost to Rachel Walker - both of these girls had the previous week competed in the Junior Champion of Champions where Rachel finished third and Connie sixth out of a strong field.

Ayrshire's points came from the second match where Mhairi McKay halved with Tara McTaggart, while newcomer to Ayrshire's team, Ali Roy from Maybole, secured a win on the last hole against the more experienced Katie Wright.
