Cumnock stage comeback to lift Ayrshire Cup

TWO late goals helped Cumnock to the Ayrshire Cup on Tuesday night.

Graham Wilson and Gary Stewart turned the final in ‘Nock’s favour after Girvan had led for most of the game.

But the tie turned when Girvan’s Daniel Cunningham was dismissed midway through the second half, with his side leading 3-2.

And Cumnock went on to complete a thrilling comeback to lift the cup.

Girvan had raced into an early lead through man of the match Michael Moffat and Steven Shankland.

Ian Cashmore pulled one back for Cumnock before the break and then James Tyler levelled at 2-2 just 10 minutes after the restart.

But Moffat’s second of the game put Girvan back in front, before Cunningham saw red after picking up two cautions.

Cumnock took the momentum as Wilson (78) and Stewart (81) grabbed the crucial goals, before Girvan had late shouts for a penalty turned down.
