TROON St. Meddans Golf Club completed their centenary celebrations in 2009 which the club marked with a number of events.
They kicked off last April with the captain and vice-president displaying their golfing skills by striking the first shots of the season.
A commemorative centenary cairn structure was also unveiled and a number of members and guests enjoyed a celebration buffet and drinks to mark the occasion.
On Saturday, July 11, the club hosted their centenary dinner at Troon Town Hall.
Golf coaching legend, Bob Torrance and Sky Sports golf presenter Ewen Murray were honoured by the club with life memberships.
Other events included a member and guest competition and an inter club match involving all Troon clubs.
A time capsule will also be buried at the centenary cairn with a host of photographs and other items from the club’s history. This will be opened in 2109.
The centenary sub committee were tasked with the organisation of the centenary celebrations and also decided that a centenary charity fund should be set up as a vehicle to assist many local charities with their fund raising.
Troon St Meddans are now calling on all local charities and other organisations to make a submission for a charitable donation from the centenary charity fund.
Either email a submission letter to Centenary@troonstmeddansgolfclub.com or write to Frank Greer, centenary secretary, Troon St. Meddans Golf Club, 30A Central Avenue, Troon.
The closing date for submissions is March 1.
