A TRIUMPHANT team from Prestwick Golf Club are heading to Turkey after winning the Scottish Club Championship at Prestwick St Nicholas on Sunday.
The team of three former internationalists (from left) Gavin Lawrie, Allan Thomson and Jonathan King clinched the title by five shots.
Prestwick, who won the Ayrshire Club Championship at Loudoun earlier in the year, fired a best four round aggregate of 285 to pip St Andrews for the title. Third on 295 were Powfoot.
This win is Prestwick's first in the 22 year history of the event and the first by an Ayrshire club since Kilmarnock (Barassie) in 1994. Other Ayrshire winners were Troon Welbeck (1993) and Kilmarnock Barassie (1992).
Prestwick now represent Scotland in the European Club Championship final in Antalya, Turkey, from October 22 to 24.
