Pamela burns up Portugal

PATNA golfing hot shot Pamela Feggans is making her mark on the Ladies European Tour.

The 26-year-old finished joint fifth in the Portugal Ladies Open, her third professional tournament, firing a three round total of one under par 215 to win 5,833 euros.

Pamela, who competed on the US Futures Tour last year, now heads to the AIB Ladies Irish Open at Dublin.

lBARASSIE youngster Jack McDonald celebrated his first Scottish representative honours in style on Sunday with a win over his home course in the fifth and final SGU Junior Tour event of the season.

It came only days after he was announced as one of six Scottish boys selected by the SGU to take part in the English Boys' Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship at Radcliffe On Trent from June 30 to July 2.

McDonald fired rounds of 68 and 69 for aseven under par 137 and a five stroke victory. Marc Smith (Welbeck) finished joint 22nd on 156.

lPRESTWICK man Ross Drummond continued his good form in the European Seniors Tour by finishing top Scot in the Jersey Senior Classic.

Rounds of 73, 71 and 66 gave him a share of sixth place with England's Roger Chapman, just three shots behind the tournament winner Delroy Cambridge (Jamaica).

Drummond, who was top Scot at the Irish Seniors Open, continues his bid for a first seniors tour win in the Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open at Royal Porthcawl.

lDOON Valley Golf Club hosts its 24th annual open at Patna on Saturday.

As well as the major prizes, all holes will have sponsored prizes for both first and second classes, as well as longest drive at first hole and nearest the marker at the ninth. Major prizes include the Brian Armour Cup, Coleston Cup, James B Black & Hay Shield, David Sommerville Shield and Alex Armour Memorial Cup.

lBELLEISLE'S Keith Hamilton is leading the chase for the Ayrshire Order of Merit's Doc Thom Salver.

Hamilton shared the top points with clubmate David Tierney at the Seafield Open to add to his win in the Hillhouse Cup and share of top points in the Belleisle Cup.

Home club player Paul Denim took top points in the Loudoun Open ahead of Scott Brown (Turnberry) and John Houston (Caprington).

lTHE Ayrshire boys team of Andrew Wright, Jack McDonald (both Kilmarnock Barassie), Colin Robinson (Largs) and David Wilson (Welbeck) came agonisingly close to recording a second win for the county in three years in The Scottish Boys Area Team Championship at Ballumbie Castle.

They were beaten into second place by the North area, by virtue of the fourth score in the afternoon singles after the two teams tied on 366.

Ayrshire, who won the title in 2007 and were fourth in 2008, were joint leaders with Perth & Kinross after the morning foursomes, both the pairings of Wright & McDonald and Robinson & Wilson returning 74s for a 148 total.

In the afternoon, Robinson led the way for Ayrshire, hitting 16 greens in regulation but taking 35 putts on his way to a 69 which was the third best score of the day. Jack McDonald added a 74 and David Wilson a 75 for Ayrshire's 218 afternoon singles total and a 366 overall target for the 15 other areas.
