Boys battle it out for Ayrshire team title

FIFTEEN clubs will contest the Ayrshire Boys’ Team Championship over Ardeer on Sunday.

Largs defend the Matt Lygate Trophy and team champions while Troon Welbeck bid to retain theAndrew D. Nimmo Trophy for the handicap team championship.

Colin Robinson, winner of theCarrick Trophy for the best net score last year, will try for the individual scratch award, The Prestwick Circuits Trophy.

lSOUTH Ayrshire Junior Golf Club has received a £8651 boost from Leisurecorp, the new owners of the Turnberry Hotel and golf courses.

A charity golf event is played each year in conjunction with the Dubai Desert Classic, with proceeds going towards the development of junior golf in Dubai. But this time, the cash was split between the Dubai programme and the newly formed junior club.

The donation complements support already received from Alistair Fleming Car Sales and The Abbotsford Hotel.

lFIRST round ties in the Ayrshire junior champion of champions are due by May 31.
