YOUNG golfers, who have not yet obtained a handicap, had a ball of a time in a pre handicap handicap open over Troon Fullarton.The youngsters received some complimentary golf accessories prior to teeing off thanks to main sponsor, the Dunfermline Building Society, and others that included Asda, Alastair Fleming (Citroen), Murraygolf and Wilson Sporting Goods.
As the emphasis was on the importance of participation, trophies were awarded to the lowest score in six categories.
Results: boys 8, 9 and 10 years: Lee Fraser (Troon) and Fraser Rigby (Troon) 78; 11 years: Allistair Smith (Troon) 72; 12 years: Sean McIntosh (Elie Sports Club) 67; 13 years: Thomas McCallum (East Kilbride) 72; 14 years plus: Arthur Longair (Ayr) 77; girls: Rebecca Morton (North Gailes) 87.
