Troon's Paul at the double
TROON Portland's Paul Moultrie won the Ayrshire Champion of Champions Trophy, beating Brian Moore (Largs) at the second extra hole in the final at Royal Troon.
Moultrie becomes only the second player to win both the senior and junior titles.
Coincidentally, the only other player to achieve this feat was Moore who won the junior title in 1994 and the senior equivalent in 2006, a gap of 12 years.
Moultrie had to wait 26 years to achieve the double, having beaten Ian Menzies (Kilbirnie) 5&4 in the 1982 boys final at Belleisle.
