IT'S semi-final time in the Ayrshire Champion of Champions Trophy at Royal Troon on Friday (August 1).
The 2006 winner Brian Moore (Largs) beat Fraser Lawrie (West Kilbride) 7&6 and faces Alex Gourlay (Irvine) who beat Nick Tindall (Tam O Shanter) 3&2.
The other semi features Paul Moultrie (Troon Portland) and George Robertson (Ravenspark) who reached the last four by beating clubmate and trophy holder John Cairney. The first of the ties is due at 5pm and spectators are welcome. The final is at Royal Troon on Friday August 8 at 5pm.
lTHE semi-final line up for the Ayrshire Summer league has been completed with league one clinched by Troon Welbeck after a 4½-1½ home win over Ayr Belleisle in their final match.
Welbeck now play league two winners Kilmarnock (Barassie), with the first leg at home.
Ravenspark host Caprington in the first leg of the other semi.
lFORTY-SIX of the best young golfers in the county will contest the Ayrshire Boys' Championship at Ayr Belleisle on Thursday August 7.
The players returning the top eight aggregate scratch scores go into the Ayrshire Boys' matchplay championship at Prestwick Golf Club from August 14 to 16.

lTROON Welbeck’s Michael Stewart narrowly failed to add the national boys’ strokeplay title to the matchplay event he won earlier in the year, when he finished third, behind winner Mark Bookless (Sandyhills) and Sam Binning (Ranfurly Castle) at the Lansdowne course at Blairgowrie.
Stewart trailed by six after the second round but a third round of 70 took him to within a shot of Bookless, who had led from day one. However, a closing 74 left him third, five behind Bookless and four behind Binning.
Kyle Smith (Kilmarnock Barassie) finished with a 77 for a 296 total.
lAYR based pro Jonathan Lomas was fourth in the Callaway/Audi PGA event at Lanark with a one under par second round score of 69 for a six under total of 134. He was five shots behind winner David Orr (East Renfrewshire).
Former West Kilbride internationalist Graeme Fox (East Kilbride) finished on 143 with Jim McKinnon (Irvine) one further back. Stuart Robin (Kilmarnock Barassie) was on 150.

lFORMER Ayrshire Golf Association president Ronnie Potts (Ravenspark) won the inaugural Ayrshire Seniors for the Sandy Provan Trophy at Kilmarnock (Barassie).
Potts, the present manager of the Ayrshire county team, returned a net 71 off his nine handicap to take the trophy by one shot.
Best scratch score of 77 was posted by David Bruce, also of Ravenspark. In blustery conditions, the CSS of the day increased to 74 (+2 )

lRACHAEL McQUEEN (Troon Ladies) is in the eight strong Scotland girls team to defend the Girls’ Home Internationals at Panmure Golf Club, Carnoustie, this week.
Scotland have won the girls’ home internationals for the past two years.
lAYRSHIRE are lying third in the West of Scotland Inter County Boys’ League with three matches played and two remaining.
After an opening 4½-3½ defeat by Stirling, Ayrshire bounced back to beat Lanarkshire 5½-2½ and Dumbartonshire 5-3.
