Seniors Open Tees Off At Troon

THE EYES of the golfing world are on Royal Troon as the Seniors Open Championship tees off today (Thursday).

Household names such as Tom Watson, Greg Norman, Bernhard Langer, Ian Woosnam and Sam Torrance will draw huge crowds.

Watson has already scored a home win when he was this week awarded honorary membership of Royal Troon in recognition of his five Open wins, one of which came at Troon in 1982.

Presenting a set of gold cufflinks, Royal Troon captain David Ferguson said: “Tom is not only one of golf's greatest players but a wonderful ambassador for the game."

Meanwhile, Norman, who finished joint third in The Open is 11/2 favourite to win at Troon. Langer is 7/1 with Watson at 8s. Local hero Sam Torrance is 50/1.
