Troon Welbeck Ladies enjoy Captain's Day

THERE were no excuses for the ladies of Troon Welbeck Golf Club when they competed in their Captain's Day competition held on Wednesday, July 9. Warm sunshine and no wind made for good scores over Lochgreen.

At the buffet lunch held after the competition, lady captain Kandy Stanley-Bone thanked everyone for joining with her in an excellent day's golf.

Prizes were awarded as follows: Winner of the captain's prize with 37 stb. pts (BIH) – Valerie McColl; runner-up – Jill West – 37pts; 3rd Maria Watson – 35pts. Longest Drive at the 4th (bronze) – Helen Davidson. Longest Drive at the 9th (silver) – Jill Scott. Nearest the Pin on the 6th - Margaret Miller.

Hidden Hole – Jill West (Gordon McKinlay 5 Wood). Birdies – Flora McPhail and Valerie McColl.

Thanks were given to South Ayrshire for the excellent condition of the course and also to the Welbeck bar staff for all their help.

Amongst a friendly and helpful group you will be taught the basic computer skills which will help you to email friends, pay bills and book holidays.

GOING into hospital can be a testing time for anyone, even more so if you have a pet to care for. The Pet Fostering Service urgently need volunteers to house pets whilst their owners are in hospital or respite care. Please note this is not for holidays or for re-homing.

TEAM Challenge – a Holiday Club will be run by members of Portland Church and St Ninian's Church during the week Monday, August 4, to Friday, August 8, from 10am to 2pm.

The club is suitable for primary school youngsters and the cost is £5 or £10 a family. Bring a packed lunch.

Registration is at 9.45am at Portland Church.
