Girvan Ladies get into the swing

GIRVAN Ladies played plenty of golf in preparation for their club championship, which began this week.

Elinor Heggie and Lynda Gordon combined with a net 69½ to take the ladies’ two ball, with their closest challengers Kathleen Thomson and Veronica Hamilton on 74.

Jean Houston took the honours in the charity cancer event, with a net 64. Runner-up Renee Gorman led the chasing pack on 65, thanks to a better inward half than both Lynda Gordon and Liz Neill.

Steven Stamper (5)58 took the men’s June medal, followed by James Baillie (11)59, Rab Galloway (9)60 and Alan Gaff (6)61 — all exceptionally good scores.
