MANY of golf’s greatest champions are heading to Royal Troon for the Senior Open Championship presented by MasterCard, from July 24 to 27.
It’s the fourth consecutive year the Championship has been staged in Scotland and the eighth time it has come to Troon.
Tom Watson defends the title he won for the third time at Muirfield last July, beating compatriot Mark O’Meara and Stewart Ginn of Australia by a stroke.
Royal Troon holds a special place in Watson’s heart as it was also the site of his 1982 Open victory.
The 58-year-old from Kansas will be attempting to become the first person to win an Open and a Senior Open at three separate venues, having claimed both titles at Turnberry and Muirfield in the past.
O’Meara and 2006 champion Loren Roberts of the United States are also set to compete along with past European Team Ryder Cup captains, Mark James of England and Ayrshire’s favourite son, Sam Torrance.
Entry for any one of the days costs £15 or £13.50 for those booking their tickets by MasterCard. A season ticket for all four days is also available at £50 (or £45 when booked by MasterCard). Car parking is free.
Tickets can be booked via email on www.europeantourtickets.com or by calling the hotline on 01292 314444.
