AYRSHIRE under 18s lost 4½-3½ to Stirlingshire at Brunston Castle in their opening match of the West of Scotland Inter County competition for The Wishart Trophy.

Wilson (Welbeck) lost to G. Nicoll (Bonnybridge) one hole; K. Smith (Barassie) beat F. Moore (Glenbervie) 2 holes; S. Brown (Turnberry) lost to J. Auchinvole (Glenbervie) 2&1; C. Robinson (Largs) halved with S. Johnston (Glenbervie); A. Foley (Belleisle) beat L. Haldane (Stirling) by one hole.

BARASSIE’S Kyle Smith was best placed Ayrshire player in the fourth Junior Tour event at Lossiemouth. He fired rounds of 74 and 71 for a share of fifth. Scott Brown (Turnberry) was on 147.
