YOU did us proud.
Now let’s get back to the bread and butter.
That’s the message from Auchinleck Talbot after their heroic efforts in the Scottish Cup.
Gutsy Talbot were only seven minutes from forcing a replay and then had an injury time equaliser by Gordon Pope wrongly ruled out.
Long serving secretary Henry Dumigan said: “Everybody was tremendous but there is a tinge of disappointment that we didn’t get the draw that we merited with a wrong call.
“However, it is understandable because the linesman doesn’t have the benefit of TV replays.
“We got excellent treatment from everyone at Hearts. It was a great experience and we feel we have enhanced the name of Auchinleck Talbot.”
The Beechwood club took more than 2000 to the game but don’t yet know how much they will have made from the day.
Dumigan said: “It will be a considerable sum. We will put the cash to the very best use.”
Talbot are closing to installing floodlights, a project that has been financed by an anonymous fan.
They return to action at home to Clydebank in the league on Saturday.
