UNDER fire Glenafton have vowed to fight their corner when they go before Hampden beaks on Tuesday evening.
Glens have been accused of fielding an ineligible player in their 2-1 Emirates Scottish Cup win overKilbirnie who have slapped in a protest. Police rushed to the ground and the tie was held up for 25 minutes after fans fought.
The SJFA’s management committee have the power to throw Glens out of the cup and reinstate Kilbirnie. And Glens could face further sanctions for the crowd trouble.
However, Glens president Jock Timpany is adamant they have done nothing wrong. He said: “I am quiet confident about winning the protest. We have our caseprepared.”
Glens have already been in trouble with beaks this season and were thrown out of the Ardagh Cup after fielding ineligible Ben Carson against Auchinleck.
And last season, they were fined £200 for fielding two unsigned players in the same competition.
