TOMMY SLOAN says Auchinleck Talbot can’t wait to take on the seniors after pulling a first round Scottish Cup tie against Fort William.
The Highland League whipping boys head to Beechwood Park on Saturday, September 26. And with seniors entering the tourney in the following round, Sloan’s Junior Cup holders are scenting a scalp.
Sloan said: “Without being disrespectful, we’ll be expected to beat Fort William. It’s an exciting time and there has always been an argument as to whether the best juniors are better than the lower juniors.
“We’ll need to do a professional job but there is a big incentive to go through.”
Girvan boss Brian McLuckie welcomes their trip to Glasgow University. He said: “I’m happy with it. They’re a bit of an unknown with almost a new team every season but we’ll watch them this weekend.”
Irvine Meadow, who have lost their last three home games on the trot, face a long trip north to meet Brora Rangers.
Boss Chris Strain said: “Distance isobviously a factor but we will travel the day before which will help. It’s a winnable tie although I would rather be at home.”
Chris McGowan has a broken foot while Emilio Jaconelli is facing a three game ban.
