Girvan meet Annbank in South Ayrshire final

GIRVAN will meet Annbank in the South Ayrshire Cup final at Portland Park, Troon, on Tuesday (kick-off 7.15pm).

Billy Thomson’s men withstood a Maybole fightback to win 3-2 in the semis while Annbank were 3-2 winners at Troon.

Goals from Stevie Shankland and Michael Moffat put Girvan in charge but a Paul Kerr double brought Maybole level. Kerr had a chance to win it with five minutes left but failed with a penalty.

Moffat was Girvan’s hero with two minutes to go but ‘Bole blew two chances in injury time when Andy Stevenson and Brian Kerr skied the ball over.

John McDonald scored two for Troon but couldn’t stop them sliding to defeat against Annbank despite taking the lead. Lee Connolly, Mick McCann and Jim Wilson counted for Bankies.
