Troon Ladies hopes take a knock

TROON’S title hopes suffered a dent when they crashed 3-0 to Linwood at Neilston in a game marred by a strong wind.

The home side led 2-0 at the interval, the second coming just before the whistle when a cross bounced viciously in front of keeper Liz Ferguson and into the net.

Troon pressed in the second half and won a penalty when a shot from Lauren Nelson was handled but the kick taken by Fiona Woods was saved by the keeper. The rebound cleared into the path of a home striker who raced upfield to score the clinching third.

Troon now have a free week for Easter which should allow injuries to clear for the run-in.
