Don't let Craigmark die pleads Lawrie

WORRIED Craigmark boss Lawrie Dinwoodie fears his team are on the brink of folding.

Now he has urged the people of Doon Valley to turn out at a crunch meeting at Station Park, Dalmellington on Sunday at 12 noon.

Veteran Tommy Farrell, who has spent 44 years at the club, has often been the only committee man at games in recent weeks. But he desperately needs people to help him.

Leaflets have been distributed in advance of Sunday’s meeting but Dinwoodie warns: “If we don’t get a good turnout then I don’t think Craigmark will be in existence next season. It’s as if nobody is interested.

“We’ve got a sportsman’s dinner on April 4 which will keep us going to the end of the season but beyond that we need more.

“We’ve got a lot of good young boys but if we can’t get people on board to assist, then other clubs will come in and take them from us.”

Craigmark’s problems mounted as they were held 1-1 by struggling Muirkirk who led at the break. Liam Harper spared some blushes when he headed a late equaliser.

Dinwoodie said: “We were terrible in the first-half but after the break we were much better although we missed an unbelievable amount of chances.”

On Saturday, Craigmark entertain Troon who could yet nick promotion if they win their final two games despite a horror start to the season.
