GORDON DALZIEL insists Glenafton are still in the title mix despite their second successive last gasp 2-1defeat.
Premier champions Pollok turned the knife with a 91st winner to deal Glens a Boxing Day knockout at Loch Park.
And that came only a week after Craig Pettigrew had done the same for Auchinleck Talbot.
Boss Daz said: “That’s the second game in a row we’ve lost a last minute goal and it’s a hard one to swallow.
“I thought we more than matched Pollok, especially in the first-half, and we certainly had enough chances to win.
“The boys are gutted but I told them we are still very much in the title hunt but we must concentrate for the entire match.
“I believe everyone is capable of beating each other in this division and hopefully we can get back to winning ways soon.”
Daz’s men were left cursing a host of missed chances after Craig Feroz had got them off to an early flier. Former Ayr United midfielder Jamie Doyle fired over a low cross from the right and Feroz nipped in to slam home his 15th goal of the season.
Feroz, once a £100,000 SPL signing by Livingston, then sent a header just wide while Glens had good penalty claims denied before the break.
Glens were to rue those misses and they paid when David Turnbull equalised. That left a draw on the cards until with the game in stoppage time, Glens failed to clear a corner and Turnbull headed the ball back into the six yard box where Brian Dingwall nodded past keeper Chris Fahey.
IRVINE MEADOW are celebrating their first league win in three months after beating Arthurlie 1-0 in the only game to beat the big chill on Saturday.
New signing John Paul Boyle was the goal hero, the former Cumnock striker pouncing in 28 minutes after a Gavin Friels effort was touched out by keeper Peter Shaw.
Paul Hyslop hit a 20 yarder off the underside of the bar early in the second-half as Meadow chased a killer second. But Arthurlie battled hard and former Auchinleck striker George Wallace, who came on as a sub, had a goal chalked off in the final minute.
Meadow lined up with Chris Robertson and Steven Swift in defence while another former Ayr player, Andy McLaren, came off the bench for Friels with 30 minutes to go.
