A VILLAGE with a great tradition for spawning football heroes is on the trail of more.
A long line of stars all took their first steps in Drongan, the latest being Scotland and Rangers ace Kirk Broadfoot.
Ryan Stevenson, Stewart Kean, Cutty Young, Eric Morris and Sanny McAnespie were all products of the tiny village.
Now Drongan man John Stewart, who is assistant head of youth with Ayr United Football Academy, is launching the search for more.
John, backed by assistant coach Robert Mathieson, has formed the Drongan youth clinic. Around 50 youngsters, aged from five to nine, are rolling along on Monday nights for coaching.
John said: “Drongan has a history of producing great footballers over the years and their success has been an inspiration for all the boys and girls.”
The coaching school is closed over the festive break and will resume on Monday January 12 at 4.45pm.
