Amateurs welcome in four new clubs
FOUR new clubs will boost membership of the Ayrshire Amateur Football Association to 64 next season.
Auchinleck United, won the East Ayrshire Sunday Amateur League’s J. G. Disco Cup, are among the newcomers.
Broomfield Rovers from Cumnock and Carrick Amateurs from Maybole also make the step-up.
Late applicants Loudoun Amateurs from Kilmarnock are also set to be nodded in. Dropping out are Kilbirnie teams The Jets and Garnock Valley.
The new season will kick off on Saturday August 13 with 12 teams in the Premier League.
Other leagues will comprise: South 1st (12), South 2nd (14), North 1st (12) and North 2nd (14).
Troon Amateurs carried off their Great Escape from relegation in the Premier Division despite losing 7-0 at home to Clark Drive in the last league game of the season last Wednesday.
As third bottom finishers, they went into a play-off 48 hours later against Irvine Thistle who were runners-up in the North 1st.
And Troon, who only came into the Premier in mid March, held their nerve to win 4-2 after extra-time.
