Ayr Utd amateurs beat Rangers to lift cup
AYR United amateurs lifted the Scottish Supporters League Cup on Sunday with a 2-1 win over their Rangers counterparts.
The team of Ayr fans were huge underdogs going into the game against the current league champions and cup holders. But despite having the lion’s share of possession Rangers rarely troubled United goalie David Farrell.
Sponsors man of the match was two goal Ayr hero Chris ’Zola’ Todd. Watton pulled a goal back with 20 minutes to go but United could have added to their total.
The victorious team was: David Farrell, Roy Donnachie, David Hainey (capt), Nicky Wilde, Barry MacPherson, Fraser Macdonald, Allan Todd, Graeme Brown, Chris Todd, George Dunlop, Kevin Robson. Subs: Chris Allan, Grant Sherwin, Gary McNeil, Alex Bojang, Craig McDonald, Willie Barclay.
