Auchinleck Talbot cashes in on strikers

AUCHINLECK Talbot have given themselves a twin striking boost as they prepare to lose a clutch of regulars.

Former Ayr United and Stirling raider Ian Cashmore is on his way from Stranraer. And Neilston hit man Sean McIlroy, a former Irvine Vics player, is also joining up.

Freed Ayr United defender Craig Pettigrew has been offered a deal but is also a target for Glenafton among others.

Boss Tommy Sloan is also hoping to land former Alloa keeper James Evans and midfielder James McPhee, both from Arthurlie.

Leaving is player of the year James Lundie who has agreed a two year deal with Arthurlie.

Talbot legend Tam McDonald, now boss of Premier League rivals Bellshill, is closing in on Neal Gilmour and John Boyle who have been transfer listed along with keeper Derek Barnes.

And the future of Colin Spence is also up in the air as he stalls on a new deal.

Talbot’s season ended with a rousing 4-2 defeat away to Pollok in the semi-finals of the Cup Winners’ Cup last Wednesday evening.

Bryan Young and Danny McKelvie fired them into a 2-0 lead and only great saves denied Kris Doolan and Stuart Davidson adding two more.

But Pollok blasted back with goals from Bryan Dingwall (2), Chris Cruickshank and Stevie Miller although Talbot finished strongly.

Talbot hold their AGM in the Social Club on Sunday June 29 at 12 noon.

MUIRKIRK have appointed former Kello boss Lawrie Coughtrie as joint manager with Keith Stewart.
