AYR UNITED under 19s face their biggest test of the season on Sunday.
And they hope Somerset Park advantage can help them when they face Inverness in the quarter-finals of the SFA Youth Cup.
The tie kicks off at 1.30pm. Admission is free but donations will be taken.
The under 17s beat Annan 4-0 at Belmont Academy but were wondering whether it will be enough to overhaul Partick’s superior goal difference and retain the Scottish title.
Adam Fraser headed home a Tyler Campbell cross for an interval lead.
As conditions worsened in the second-half, Ayr hit woodwork four times before Sean Robertson netted from an Ewan Bain pass.
Robertson finished off a Neil Slooves through ball before man of the match Andy McCormack rounded the keeper for the fourth. Ayr close at home to Montrose in two weeks’ time.
Team: Andy Clark, Dillon Welsh, Ewan Bain, Jack Harkness, Andy McCormack, Ryan McCubbin, Sean Robertson, Darren McGill, Chris Kelly, Adam Fraser, Tyler Campbell. Subs: Neil Slooves, Andy Muir, Jackson Longridge.
Sunday’s fixtures: 13s v Queen of the South (Prestwick Academy, 1pm); 14s v Dumbarton (away, 2pm); 15s v Queen of the South (Prestwick Academy, 11am); 19s v Inverness (SFA Youth Cup, Somerset Park, 1.30pm).
