Ayr United 19s are held at Brechin

AYR 19s enjoyed a great first-half away to Brechin, taking the lead when Mark Shankland curled a glorious free kick around the wall and into the bottom corner.

United missed chances to stretch their lead and paid the price after the break when Brechin equalised. Despite Brechin having a man sent off, Ayr couldn't cash in.

The 17s lost their 100 per cent record when they were held 2-2 by Alloa at Recreation Park.

Dillon Dunn hit the post before skipper Jack Harkness brushed aside a number of challenges before firing low into the corner of the net from 25 yards.

Jackson Longridge thundered a 30 yard free-kick off the bar before Ayr doubled their lead when man of the match Chris Kelly lobbed the keeper.

Alloa got one back and then equalised in the 90th minute when Harkness was controversially ruled to have impeded a player and the hosts scored with the penalty.

Coach Davie White is looking for a positive reaction to take into Sunday’s top of the table clash against Livingston.

Team: Andy Clark, Dillon Welsh, Andy McCormack, Jack Harkness, Ewan Bain, Andy Muir, Neil Slooves, Chris Kelly, Jackson Longridge, Adam Fraser, Dillon Dunn. Subs: Ryan McCubbin, Thomas Graham, Lee Gordon, Sean Robertson.

The 15s were unlucky to lose to St Johnstone at Prestwick Academy.

Michael Stewart was denied by a good save before Roy Barr finished superbly.

Saints equalised early in the second period but Ayr regained the lead when man of the match Sean Ewart converted a Callum Haymarch cross.

It was to prove short lived, however, when a corner was headed home and then a long range effort looped over Lewis McMurdo for the Saints winner.

The under 11 girls went on a goal rush against TASS at Saltcoats with Nicole Hendren leading the way with seven goals. Player of the match Nicole Wilson scored six.

Sunday’s fixtures: 14s v Dumbarton (a), 15s v Dumbarton (a), 17s v Livingston (Prestwick Academy, noon), 19s v Dumbarton (Prestwick Academy, 2.15pm).
