Brian Reid vows to turn around Ayr United’s poor away form

BRIAN REID has ordered his players in for Saturday training and vowed to turn around their dismal away form.

Twelve goals leaked in the last three games on the road have tumbled Ayr to bottom of the First Division...yet still only two wins off the top.

It’s in stark contrast to home form which has seen them beat Hearts, Inverness, Raith and Queen of the South.

The Somerset boss pledged: “I am 100 per cent confident we will get the away form sorted.

“In the last three away games we’ve lost four goals each time and that’s got to be rectified.

“We’re not panicking but it’s not nice to lose 4-0. We don’t have a chance of winning by the way we are defending.

“Missing big players wasalways going to be a problem but that’s still not an excuse.

“Communication seems to be a big problem on the park. The players seem so quiet but we’ve got to change that and take the bull by the horns.”

Despite this weekend’s league programme being shelved due to Euro qualifiers, there will be no break for the squad.

Reid will call them in for training but has ditched plans for a practice match because a number of players, including Andy Geggan (ankle), are carrying knocks.

Tickets for Ayr’s League Cup quarter-final away to St Mirren on Tuesday, October 25, are on sale at the club shop.
