FANS went down memory lane when Ayr United honoured some of their best known players.
Five heroes of the 60s, 70s and 80s had hospitality boxes named in tribute when the Ayrshire Post backed Ally MacLeod Suite opened on Saturday.
Cutty Young, Stan Quinn, Henry Templeton and Davie Stewart were joined by Ally’s widow Faye at a celebratory lunch before the grand opening. Spud Murphy, who also has a box in his name, couldn’t be present.
Commercial director Hugh Cameron welcomed guests. Vice chairman AlexIngram, who was Ally’s first signing, gave a speech about his memories of working under Ayr’s greatest ever manager.
Long time fan John Dalton gave a rundown of the famous five’s careers while Faye unveiled a plaque and a painting of Ally by local artist Richard Macdonald.
The players then cut the ribbons to declare each box officially open.
