AYR United under 19s came from behind to beat Alloa at Recreation Park on Sunday.
A Gareth Armstrong OG left them trailing but Mark Shankland headed the equaliser before Roddy Paterson fired them ahead.
Paterson then met a brilliantly weighted ball from Armstrong and slid it under the out rushing keeper.
Robbie Crawford cracked a 30 yard thunderbolt off the post and Paterson chipped the loose ball to the back post for Shankland to head home.
Alloa got one back before Armstrong, Paterson, Crawford and Sean Kelly combined for Scott Aitken to make it5-2.
Sixteen-year-old Shankland then completed his hat-trick with a superb left foot strike from the edge of the box.
The 17s, who are looking to emulate last season’s title winning team, crushed Elgin 11-1 for their third win on the spin.
Elgin, who set out at 6.30am, took a surprise lead before Ayr clicked into gear with a Dillon Dunn hat-trick.
Adam Fraser then struck a four minute treble to end a blistering first-half.
Sean Robertson got another before man of the match Fraser completed a double hat-trick. Late goals from Andy McCormack and Chris Kelly wrapped it up.
