Voice of Reason, 30th April

THE VoR is an angry man.

Never in all my years of following Ayr United have I witnessed such a series of pathetic performances.

Losing games? You can accept that when your players show some fight.

It’s another issue when they’re waving white flags during the warm up.

Hey, the men in the dressing room might want to argue with me.

But the results tell a different story.

And anyone with a working pair of eyes can see what’s going on.

Two games to go. Two games to save the future of this club.

Remarkably, it’s still in our hands.

On Saturday we will take a huge support to Morton and the team will get incredible backing.

Backing they don’t deserve based on recent weeks.

But here’s the thing.

We hear a lot of criticism aimed at fans for not turning up to games.

Some of it justified, some of it not.

Maybe that same criticism should now be aimed at the players for going AWOL.

They have 180 minutes left to provide us with first division football next season.

No matter what anyone says, they ARE capable.

Come Saturday night, we’ll know if they’ve been willing to fight.

The VoR has a funny feeling we can do this.

Call it blind faith, call it what you will.

But now is the time for people to stand up and be counted.

So let’s get along to these final two games and get this party started.

ON to good news. And God knows we need it.

Ayr Rugby Club managed to do the business at Murrayfield and lift the Scottish Cup.

But now the big boys in pink are claiming they’re the town’s top sports’ team.

Steady chaps.

You can kick us – but not when we’re down.

Seriously though, a brilliant effort from the oval ball men.

And it’s good to see the name of Ayr being associated with at least some sporting success.

But fair play to the rugby boys.

Having spent some time in their company over the last couple of weeks, the VoR can confirm they’re a great bunch of lads.

Delighted to see them flying the flag for us. Well done troops.

HOLY smokes. It’s all going down in betting corner.

Final furlong time for the VoR and Iain Ferguson and I’m starting to tie up big time.

After a year of deck chairs and cigars for yours truly, it seems the pressure is on.

Fergie trails by just a point. And now the gloves are off.

This week he resorts to backing a certainty and goes with Notts County 3, Cheltenham 0.

The VoR responds with Forfar 2, Queen’s Park 0.

The challenge ends on May 15.
