SUPER-SUB Roddy Paterson blasted a stunning hat-trick as Ayr United under 19s came from behind to beat Cowdenbeath 4-2.
The striker, who is tipped for a bright future after signing pro terms, came off the bench in the second half.
Stevie McMillan's side were 2-0 down but Paterson used his pace and finishing ability to net three times, before Ross Robertson completed the comeback late on.
McMillan said: "It was a good win, we did very well in patches and there were also some excellent performances. Roddy had a great impact when he came off the bench."
Paterson replaced George Thompson on the hour and pulled one back after latching on to Robertson's header. He equalised with another neat finish, before grabbing his hat-trick after a brilliant run. Robertson nodded in Dale Moore's corner to complete the scoring.
Ayr under 16s coach Tom Robertson was pleased with his side after a good performance at Stirling. Dean Arrol scored the first and further strikes from Scott Aitken, Mark Dyer, Jonathon James and Milligan sealed it.
David White has challenged his under 15s to learn from their mistakes after a disappointing show against Clyde at Broadwood. It was their first game in a month and it showed in a poor display.
White said: "There should be no excuses about having no games, the performance was simply down to a lack of desire, enthusiasm and attitude. The players were left in no doubt that this type of performance is not acceptable.”
Neil Duffy was delighted with his under-14s after an impressive display against Stirling Albion at Somerset Park. Michael Wardrope and a brilliant solo effort by Ryan Nisbet put them ahead in the first period, before Wardrope netted a superb third with a curling effort. Ewan Bain wrapped it up.
Duffy said: "The most pleasing aspect is the fact you could see that we have improved a lot since the start of the season.”
